Moderator:
Rochelle Nakajima, CPA, is a senior manager at CohnReznick.  Rochelle provides financial statement assurance and accounting services to emerging and middle-market companies in a variety of industries including high technology, manufacturing, real estate, rental equipment, and financial markets. Prior to joining CohnReznick in 2002, Rochelle was a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen.  In 2012, Rochelle received the San Fernando Valley Business Journal's Trusted Advisors award in the CPA category. She was nominated by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) where she currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chapter. Rochelle also keeps active in the community through volunteer work with Junior Achievement and in the San Fernando Valley Japanese-American Community Center.

 

Rochelle has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an option in Accounting (cum laude) from California State University, Northridge.  She is affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and Women in LAVA.

 
Panelists:

Jeffrey A. Bobrosky, CPA, is a partner at CohnReznick and the leader of the Firm's Technology/Life Sciences  Industry Practice in Los Angeles.  Jeff has more than 19 years of accounting, auditing and business advisory experience serving privately held and public companies in the emerging and middle markets as well as mature companies in the Fortune 100 marketplace. Jeff began his career at a Big Four firm in 1992.  His career includes significant experience in public offerings and debt and equity financing.  Jeff was honored by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal as one of the Valley's Top "40 Under 40."  The award recognizes the accomplishments and community contributions of the San Fernando Valley's most influential business people.

 

Jeff recently completed a three year term as the vice president of Finance for Temple Aliyah. Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialty in Accounting Theory and Practice from California State University, Northridge. He is affiliated with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.  

 

Melisa Silverman is a partner and senior appraiser at American ValueMetrics Corp, a national, boutique valuation services firm providing defensible, certified business and business interest valuation reports that meet both industry and regulatory standards. Ms. Silverman has prepared hundreds of complex business valuations on a variety of both privately and publicly held companies from startups to billion dollar businesses.  Previously, Ms. Silverman worked for and consulted with medium and large companies such as Peregrine Systems, 3E Company and Sonare Technologies, a division of Herman Miller.

 

Ms. Silverman has a JD Degree, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Psychology from Indiana University and the following professional designations:  Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA), Senior Business Analyst (SBA) and Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA). 

  

Dat T. Do is Co-Founder & CEO of Derivatas, formerly with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a valuation specialist and financial engineer in the Transaction Services - Valuation practice. While at PwC, Mr. Do performed and reviewed numerous business valuations for financial reporting and tax purposes. He is considered by many to be the "go-to" person for valuations related to PE- and VC-backed portfolio companies, and IRC 409A.  Prior to PwC, Mr. Do was an entrepreneur leading his own consulting firm. Prior to that, he spent several years as a corporate banker for Credit Lyonnais, a multinational bank.

 

A few company valuations that Mr. Do has worked on (Technology & Biotech):  Tesla Motors, Fisker Automotive, SpaceX, SolarCity, BrightSource Energy, GreatPoint Energy, Twitter, Visto Corporation, Tremor Video, Yodle, Tumblr, Glam Media, YeePay, OkayBuy, Box.net, Ping Identity Corp., ShareThis, Betaworks Studio, Synthetic Genomics, Revance Therapeutics, etc.

 

Mr. Do earned his MBA (Finance Concentration) from Pepperdine University and his B.S. in Applied Mathematics (Statistics) from UCLA.
