Patricia Elliott, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada, Los Angeles
Patricia Elliott assumed the position of Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles in August 2015. Previous to joining the office in Los Angeles, Elliott served as the Regional Director and Senior Trade Commissioner for the Prairies and Northwest Territories, Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development since October 2012, and as the Senior Trade Commissioner for Alberta. While Deputy Director for the Vancouver Regional Office (Pacific Region) she was the lead for the Invest in Canada initiative for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
With a background in strategic planning and fluently bilingual in English and French, Patricia Elliott studied Communications at Université Laval and has also worked with Industry Canada, Canadian Heritage, National Defence and Elections Canada/International Affairs.

Shankar Ratneshwaran, Principal Co-Innovation Evangelist, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
Shankar Ratneshwaran is an innovation evangelist at TCS. He heads the evangelize function for the “Optimize” theme within TCS Innovation Labs. He has keen interest in the commercialization of IT transformation, business optimization, systems thinking, design thinking, and all systems simulation technologies. Shankar worked with technologies and intellectual property for some years in established technology companies. Shankar decided to work on the other side of innovation, matching technologies with marked needs, in the Innovation Industry leading to his role in TCS.

As a veteran investor and seasoned entrepreneur, Rick recently joined the CCBC leadership team to advance the organization and build on past successes. The CCBC is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote increased trade and investment between the California and Canada.
Previously, Rick represented the Government of British Columbia International Trade and Investment Office in the USA, based in Palo Alto, CA. He provided advisory services on Foreign Direct Investment and Trade Development between British Columbia and the USA, specializing in digital media, natural resources, aerospace and advanced manufacturing, and the technology sectors. His extensive experience allowed him to provide strategic market and industry advice by facilitating foreign direct investment, international trade, and accessing Strategic/Angel/VC/Private Equity channels through leveraging a global network of key influencers.
Bringing over 20 years of Corporate Finance, Business Development, and Management Consulting experience, Rick has provided advisory services for institutional clients in public and private transactions exceeding $750 million in aggregate value in both Canada and the USA.
Rick was involved in founding and operational roles at several startups. He was a founder of a marketing company and a group of retail stores, and co-founded a healthcare startup and a hospitality management group. He has built organizations with teams from 2 to 220 employees, and understands what it takes to be a startup entrepreneur.
