Now that Mobile has become the de facto delivery platform for innovative early stage companies, it's not enough to simply have an app. With so many mobile app companies vying for attention, what's the best strategy to rise above the noise, for user aggregation, growth, and traction? How do early stage companies execute on growing their user base as quickly as possible?

 

The discussion will focus on how to identify mobile breakthrough companies, what they look like, and what their attributes are . Several Vancouver based  early stage mobile companies will be attending and will provide their perspective through private meetings and networking before and after the panel discussion.

Michael Becker is the North American Managing Director of the Mobile Marketing Association, where he is responsible for overseeing the association’s North American membership, research, strategic initiatives, events and education businesses. He also holds the position of Founder and Strategic Advisor to iLoop Mobile, Inc., an industry leading mobile marketing solutions provider. In addition to his commercial activities, Mr. Becker is an author and academic. He is the founder and publisher of the MMA International Journal of Mobile Marketing, has authored two books (Mobile Marketing for Dummies and Web Marketing All-in-One for Dummies), written over more than 80 articles and contributed to 5 five other books.

Vladimir's career highlights span both start-up and traditional corporate engagements.  He was the founding CEO of Ansible, Interpublic Group's dedicated mobile agency - launching and growing one of the first dedicated mobile agencies in the world. He also  served as global CMO of iconmobile, WPP's mobile agency, and as CEO of Soapbox  Mobile - one of the first mobile tools and advertising platforms providers.

Prior to these, Vladimir started ESPN's mobile business as its VP of Mobile Publishing Worldwide, architecting development and distribution deals for ESPN content,  applications, and brands with carriers, OEMs, and partners all over the world. He also  helped ESPN launch its own branded phone. 

 

He was also Executive Producer of CBS New Media, overseeing CBS.com, and has been an angel investor in start-ups including Transpera and Filter.

Rob Kornegay is a corporate and securities partner resident in Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati's San Diego and Palo Alto offices. He has substantial experience representing both public and private technology companies in connection with corporate formation, venture capital financings, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures and strategic partnerships. He is also a Lecturer in Law, Venture Capital Finance at University of California, and the Hastings College of Law, Santa Clara University School of Law.
