Christopher Rand, TriStar Technology VenturesOur LAVA Healthcare guest speaker this month is Christopher Rand, co-founder and partner of TriStar Technology Ventures, an early-stage venture fund that forms and invests in companies across the spectrum of healthcare innovation: life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices and technologies, healthcare IT and healthcare services.


Christopher co-founded TriStar Technology Ventures in 2009, and now serves on the board of Angel Eye, Carrot Medical, Cobra Introducer, Evermind, InvisionHeart, MedCenterDisplay, Octovis, Preferral and Nashville Capital Network. Prior to TriStar he was the manager of new venture development in Vanderbilt’s Office of Technology Transfer and Enterprise Development with responsibility for licensing Vanderbilt intellectual property, assisting in the formation of new start-up companies and working with existing start-ups. Christopher also managed the portfolio of Vanderbilt's Chancellor’s Fund and represented it on the boards of five portfolio companies. Prior to Vanderbilt he worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ valuation group, providing consulting and transaction support services. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from Vanderbilt.

 

LAVA Healthcare is produced and moderated by Richard Koffler, CEO of Greenwings Biomedical, an incubator of medical devices. He is past president of LAVA, a former member of the Tech Coast Angels, and advisor to the California Emerging Technology Fund.
