    Scott Alderton is a founder and partner of the Firm. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1982 and his J.D., cum laude, in 1985 from Loyola Law School. He has served as an adjunct professor of securities law at Loyola Law School and is a member of the Business Law and Intellectual Property Sections of the American Bar Association. Scott is a member of the California Bar.

     

    Scott is a corporate and technology lawyer who focuses exclusively on advising middle-market, technology, emerging growth, and development stage companies in the areas of corporate and securities, mergers and acquisitions, high technology, business, licensing, intellectual property, the Internet and multimedia.

     

    Scott's practice includes a wide variety of federal and state securities laws matters, including the representation of Venture Capital Funds, issuers and investment bankers in public offering registrations and private placements of securities, as well as counseling issuers in connection with federal and state securities law reporting requirements.

     

    Scott has over twenty years of experience working with technology and emerging growth companies at all stages along their evolutionary path. In addition to his extensive background and teaching experience in the field of securities law, Scott has particular expertise in software and other technology licensing; technology transfer, distribution and marketing agreements; capital formation, venture capital and financing transactions; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; commercial contracts; executive employment agreements; protection of copyrights, trademarks, domain names and trade secrets; electronic commerce; and the development, acquisition and clearance of rights in intellectual property (particularly with respect to information technology, the Internet and new media products).

    Greg Martin

    Greg Martin is a Partner with Redpoint Ventures in Los Angeles, focusing on information technology, digital media, next generation advertising and cleantech investments. Prior to joining Redpoint, Greg was an Associate with Brentwood Venture Capital, a firm he joined in 1999.

     

    Greg is a Director or observer of the following Redpoint portfolio companies: Leadpoint, WebVisible, Networks-in-Motion, Socialvibe.com, Impact Radius, 2tor, SOA Software and LivePlanet. Greg was previously a Director of TelASIC Communications (sold to MTI).

     

    Prior to joining Brentwood Venture Capital, Greg worked with an Angel Investor focusing on early-stage Internet and telecommunications investments. Previously, Greg was an Investment Banker with Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette's Technology Group in Menlo Park and before that with Smith Barney in their International M&A and Cross Border Transactions Group. Greg has also owned and operated a high-end men's clothing franchise in the Los Angeles area.

     

    Greg currently serves on the Board of the Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA) and is an Advisory Board member of the Tech Coast Angels and the San Diego Venture Group.

     

    Greg is a Carter Scholar from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA. Greg also holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree, with a concentration in Information Systems and Accounting, from the University of Calgary.

     

     

     

    Rick Smith
    Managing Director
    Crosscut Ventures

     

    Rick Smith is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Crosscut Ventures. He has been involved in private equity for over two decades. Prior to co-founding Crosscut, Rick was a managing director at an early-stage venture capital firm based in Santa Monica, California. He joined the firm when it had only one $80 million fund under management, and played an active role in raising and managing two additional funds capitalized at a total of more than $400 million.

     

    Prior to that, he was a managing director at SunAmerica, Inc., where he participated in the acquisitions of a handful of companies that significantly increased the asset base of the company before it was sold for $19 billion. He also co-founded SunAmerica Ventures, a $750 million fund focused on both direct investments and investments in other venture funds.

     

    Rick has led the investments in several companies that have been sold or gone public since he started investing in venture capital in 1997, including Berkeley Networks - sold to FORE Systems/Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC); ConvergeNet - sold to Dell (NASDAQ:DELL); Entone - sold to Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT); Evolve Software - IPO (NASDAQ:EVLV); PropertyFirst.com - merged with Loopnet (NASDAQ:LOOP); Magma Design Automation - IPO (NASDAQ:LAVA); Maverick Networks - sold to Broadcom (NASDAQ:BRCM); Micromuse - IPO (NASDAQ:MUSE); MobileForce - sold to C-Cor/Arris (NASDAQ:ARRS); Motiva - sold to Seibel/Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL); Netcontinuum - sold to Barracuda Networks; Network Physics - sold to OPNET (NASDAQ:OPNT); TriVida - sold to BeFree (NASDAQ:BFRE)

    John Greathouse

    John has held a number of senior executive positions with successful startups during the past fifteen years. At Computer Motion (RBOT), he was the CFO and VP of Business Development. At Citrix Online (CTXS - formerly Expertcity), John served as CFO and SVP of Strategic Development. At CallWave (CALL), he served as the SVP of Sales & Business Development. In his capacities at Computer Motion and Citrix, John spearheaded transactions which generated more than $350 million of shareholder value, including Computer Motion's initial public offering and the sale of Expertcity to Citrix for over $230M.

     

    John is a CPA and holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School. He is a member of the University of California at Santa Barbara’s Technology Management Faculty where he teaches courses on New Venture Creation and Entrepreneurial Leadership. He is also the author of an entrepreneurial advice blog: infoChachkie.com.

     

     

    Ted Alexander
    Managing Partner
    Mission Ventures

     

    Ted Alexander is a Managing Partner of Mission Ventures III and has been with the firm since its founding. Prior to joining Mission Ventures, Ted worked closely with a successful Mission Ventures portfolio company investment, Sandpiper Networks.

     

    Previously, Ted was a Platoon Commander in the US Navy SEALs, and a Division Officer aboard a US Navy destroyer. Ted received an MBA from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

     

    Ted's investment focus has been predominantly in the areas of communications and infrastructure, and is currently serving as a Board Director for Carbon Micro Battery, MaxLinear, ID Analytics, Networks in Motion, Ortiva Wireless, Rocketalk, Verimatrix and LeisureLink.
