    For over 25 years, Randy Churchill has served the entrepreneurial community through various roles as a banker, lawyer, financial printer and, for the past nine years, Director of Emerging Company Services for PricewaterhouseCoopers' Southern California Technology practice.  In addition to identifying promising venture-backed client candidates, during his tenure with PwC, Randy consistently has worked to connect investors, entrepreneurs and others to promote investment and innovation within the Southern California technology ecosystem.  Randy also manages and presents PwC’s Southern California MoneyTreeTM Report, a quarterly survey of venture capital investment across the nation and within Southern California.

     

    Randy was named Technology Leader of the Year in 2009 by Los Angeles County's TechWeek, and he currently sits on the advisory boards of several organizations, including: the Los Angeles Venture Association, Caltech MIT Enterprise Forum (past chair), Los Angeles Business Technology Center, USC’s Center for Technology Commercialization, SoCal Tech Group, as well as the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation's Green Task Force.  Additionally, Randy is an inactive member of the State Bar of California.

     

    Randy received his B.B.A., cum laude, from Western Michigan University, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law.

    Jim Andelman
    General Partner
    Rincon Venture Partners

     

    Jim is co-founder and General Partner of Rincon Venture Partners.  Rincon invests in early-stage software and web-based businesses with proven revenue models and capital-efficient operating plans.  Jim is responsible for driving the fund’s investment activities as well as the firm’s operations.  Jim has more than fifteen years of experience in venture capital investing, technology investment banking and advisory services and strategic business consulting.

    Previously, Jim led software investing activities at Broadview Capital Partners, a $250 million expansion-stage venture capital firm. There, he was responsible for developing investment themes, sourcing investment opportunities, performing company assessments, negotiating and executing transactions, and advising portfolio companies. Jim led the assessment of over 300 investment opportunities and participated in the deployment of $78 million across five portfolio companies, four of which exited via acquisition despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.

     

    Before BCP, Jim was a member of the Technology Investment Banking Group at Alex. Brown & Sons.   There, he concentrated on equity private placements, mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings in the software sector, with additional experience in IT services, computing equipment, networking equipment, imaging, semiconductors, semi capital equipment and storage.
    Jim began his career with Symmetrix, a boutique management consulting firm founded by a Bain & Co. founder, which helped to create strategic advantage through the application of technology.  At Symmetrix, Jim specialized in strategy formulation and economic modeling.

     

    Jim received his MBA with highest distinction (first in his class) from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and his BS in Economics (magna cum laude) from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

    Jim serves on the Boards of Directors of Brickfish, Campus Explorer, Digital Performance and Iconix Video, and has Board oversight responsibility for Soliant Energy. He previously served on the Boards of Cadforce (acquired by Neilsoft) and Packet Island (acquired by BroadSoft). In addition, he serves on the Boards of Directors of the Los Angeles Venture Association and Friends of Yosemite Search and Rescue, and on the Advisory Board of the Douglas Family Preserve.

    A successful and experienced early stage venture investor across a variety of enterprise and consumer facing technology companies, Jim has established himself as a leading investor based in Southern California. Since joining Clearstone early in its formation, Jim has applied his experience and industry contacts to help Clearstone companies deliver a strong record of venture performance. Jim's work at Clearstone is focused on information technology investments, with particular interest in consumer internet, application software and internet enabled business processes. Jim has been recognized as one of the top 50 Venture Capitalists in the United States by Forbes Magazine.

    Jim joined Clearstone Venture Partners in 1998 from Austin Ventures, a leading venture fund, where he spent three years supporting investments in a variety of early stage companies. Jim also worked with idealab, the incubator, in the late 90’s, helping to guide and fund a variety of early Internet companies.

     

    Jim led Clearstone’s current investments in Internet companies SupplyFrame, Internet Brands (NASDAQ: INET), Vast, Six Degrees Games, and LeisureLink, as well as in Enterprise Software companies Integrien and Composite. Jim actively represented Clearstone's early stage investments in former portfolio companies Comet Systems (acquired by Miva), PayPal (acquired by eBay as a public company), United Online (NASDAQ: UNTD), Jump Networks (acquired by Microsoft) and TriVida (acquired by BeFree).

    Klaus Koch

    Klaus Koch is a Managing Partner of Vicente Capital Partners.  He has been a senior investment professional in three such partnerships over the past decade.

    Klaus began his career with the LEK Partnership where he focused on strategic M&A projects and privatization support for the German government.  Klaus later went on to work with Goldman Sachs in Mergers and Acquisitions.  He has worked on numerous M&A transactions in areas such as medical devices, satellite equipment and services, paper products and car rental services.

    In 1996, Klaus joined Bain & Co. in their LBO, Technology and Healthcare practices.  During this time, Klaus advised such firms as Apollo Advisors, McCown De Leeuw, TRW and SGI.

    Klaus has led several successful investments to exit including Rent.com (acquired by eBay), O2 Science (acquired by Pacific Pulmonary Services), Sensor Systems, Alta Healthcare System, Newbridge College, LivHOME and Transoft Networks

    (acquired by Hewlett-Packard). Currently, Klaus is Chairman of the Board of Sendio and MedBridge Healthcare.

    Klaus Koch is an active participant in the Southern California venture community.  He is a board member of the Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA) and a frequent speaker on the subject of private equity.  He received his Master’s degree from Harvard Business School with distinction and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School summa cum laude.

     

    Ivan Ivankovich

    Ivan brings more than 22 years of finance and operations management experience. His primary focus is working with early stage companies as well as supporting the financial and operational requirements of venture firms and private equity groups and their portfolio companies. His industry experience includes technology (primarily software), Internet services, online advertising, digital media and telecommunications. Ivan also has business transaction experience both on the buy and sell side participating in the diligence, negotiation and transition/integration of companies. He has particular expertise in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial modeling, cash management, financial and operational processes.

     

    In addition to his role as the senior finance executive for various early and later stage companies, Ivan served as CFO of YellowPages.com, Vice President, Portfolio Operations with Platinum Equity, a global acquisition firm specializing in the operation of technology companies. Ivan's primary responsibility was the management and operational supervision of its portfolio companies. He led the transition of acquired companies into stand-alone entities and served as interim CFO implementing critical financial and operational infrastructures and processes.

     

    Ivan started his career with Ernst & Young joining their audit practice in Los Angeles. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the California Society of CPA's.
