Leonard M. Lanzi has over 30 years of non-profit organization management and fund development experience. He has been serving as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Venture Association since 2007.In his capacity at LAVA, Len works with the LAVA board of directors to direct the strategic plan and organize educational and informational programs within the venture funded business ecosystem in the greater Los Angeles region.
Leonard brings a well-rounded knowledge from such diverse human service organizations as the Community Kitchen of Santa Barbara, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Junior Achievement of Southern California and the Boy Scouts of America.
Leonard graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica where he served on its Board of Directors as VP Programs.Leonard also serves on the board of directors as treasurer for Meals on Wheels West, Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention, the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Governors for StartOut, a nationwide entrepreneurial organization for the GLBT community.
As an attorney at Fox Rothschild, I counsel small to mid-sized businesses in the consumer products, clean tech, solar power, manufacturing and professional services industries on a variety of complex transactional matters. I handle business formation, planning and restructuring and works with startups on strategy and early-stage funding as well as with existing companies on growth and acquisition financing. I also handle mergers, acquisitions and other general commercial transactions and provide advice on corporate governance matters. I serve as outside general counsel to a number of clients, advising on day-to-day legal matters and assisting with contract negotiation, leasing and brand protection. I advise private equity and venture capital investors on due diligence, negotiation of investment documents and other matters. Additionally, I am an adjunct professor at University of Southern California Law School, teaching a course on contract drafting and negotiation.
